About this event

Mission 4.7 will build on and draw upon UNESCO’s global leadership on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED), as mandated by its Member States and the UN General Assembly, respectively, as well as on its responsibility for the monitoring of SDG Target 4.7. Mission 4.7 will ensure alignment with UNESCO’s global frameworks and conceptualizations, and complement existing programs already underway in this context.

In addition to advocating for the achievement of SDG Target 4.7 at global, national, and local levels, Mission 4.7 will also curate and create relevant educational resources, push countries for greater investments in quality education, and identify ways to train and support educators around the world.

This HLPF 2021 side event will help to operationalize SDG 4.7 by developing a series of consensus building sessions on various themes, such as-

  • Theoretical Framework for SDG4.7
  • Classroom-based pedagogies
  • Teacher Professional development
  • Curriculum development and aligning of lesson plans.
  • National and sub-national policies

The outcome of the workshop will be to develop a consensus on the themes of a guiding principles document that will be shared with multiple countries to take up action agendas on each of the following themes. The guiding principles document will help to provide implementation guidelines and resources to align education systems to SDG 4.7. We will hear from educators, students, researchers, academicians and national policy leaders on the implementation guidelines of SDG 4.7
