Innovating for the Planet: The Power of Technology and Finance

Successful climate solutions will require pioneering new technologies that find broad commercial application and reduce the cost of protecting the climate. Thus, we need not only novel innovations to apply in sectors where decarbonization is hard and expensive, but also hard-headed business strategies that can bring new technologies out of the lab and into the marketplace. How can companies like Material Impact, and mission-oriented ventures like Breakthrough Energy help accelerate the clean energy revolution?

The Center on Global Energy Policy welcomes Carmichael Roberts, PhD, Co‐Founder & Managing Partner, Material Impact and Investment Committee Co‐Lead, Breakthrough Energy, for a fireside chat with Dr. Melissa Lott, Director of Research and Senior Research Scholar, Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia SIPA, to examine the role of technology and finance in climate change and clean energy innovation as part of our 7th Annual Columbia Global Energy Summit.
