Power and Sustainability: The View from India’s State-Owned Utility

May 20, 2021

Online

As India faces the enormous human toll from the global pandemic, it simultaneously continues efforts to grow its electric power sector and enable economic opportunity and poverty reduction. State-owned enterprises play a critical role in India’s power sector, and none plays a larger role than NTPC. Founded as a fossil-fuel generator, NTPC is now branching out into developing zero-carbon resources. How does NTPC aim to deliver both low-cost and low-carbon resources?

The Center on Global Energy Policy welcomes Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Limited, for a fireside chat with Philippe Benoit, Adjunct Senior Research Scholar, Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University SIPA, to discuss power and sustainability as part of our 7th Annual Columbia Global Energy Summit.
